The ATF Acquisitions Management Division is currently recruiting for a Furniture Designer position in order to enhance the bureau’s toolbox and further promote excellence in furniture design. The candidate must be able to conceptualize and create ergonomic and visually appealing furniture solutions as his/ her primary role will be to design and implement the furniture designs for the division. This position entails communicating with clients, architects, and other professionals regarding their requirements for furniture, subsequent development of ideas and concepts, as well as management of furniture manufacturing and placement.
Responsibilities:
- Create innovative and functional furniture designs that meet the needs of the ATF Acquisitions Management Division.
- Develop detailed design drawings and specifications using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Select appropriate materials, finishes, and manufacturing processes to ensure quality and durability.
- Manage the entire design process from concept to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordination with suppliers and manufacturers.
- Ensure all furniture designs comply with relevant safety and accessibility standards and regulations.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and preferences.
- Present design concepts and proposals to stakeholders for approval and feedback.
- Incorporate stakeholder feedback into final designs to ensure satisfaction and functionality.
- Oversee the production and installation of furniture to ensure it meets design specifications and quality standards.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to verify the correct implementation of designs.
- Address any issues or discrepancies that arise during production or installation.
- Stay updated with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in furniture design.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve design processes and outcomes.
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in interior design or related field and have a minimum of 2 years of post college experience in design or related field, preferably in the furniture industry.
- Competency in AutoCAD and Revit is required.
- Experience in space planning, AutoCAD/Revit, color and material coordination, and basic design theory. (Portfolio must exhibit related training.)
- Experience leading the complete design process which includes client programming, product specifications, finish selections, scope, presentations, and conceptual design.
- Experience interacting with customers to: assess needs, plan, modify and implement a project(s).
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate and analyze potential problems and suggest recommendations to achieve project goals and objectives.

Pay: $72,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
