Job Summary
The Senior Information Technology Specialist reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for managing and maintaining Powell's IT infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. This role requires a deep understanding of system administration, network management, and cloud services, along with a proactive approach to problem-solving and innovation.
Essential Functions
- Oversee the installation and configuration of servers, workstations, and other IT infrastructure components.
- Continuously monitor and maintain functionality of all company hardware (including but not limited to copiers, mobile devices, networking equipment, phones , printers, servers, & workstations), to ensure systems are operating efficiently and reliably, with minimal downtime. Work with vendor technical support as needed.
- Design, maintain, and troubleshoot networks.
- Implement backup and disaster recovery techniques and constantly monitor for reliability.
- Implement and maintain security policies, procedures and technologies to protect company data and systems.
- Perform regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Continuously research, monitor, and improve upon network security applications & techniques.
- Maintenance of cloud based services and infrastructure including Azure and O365.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of system configurations, procedures, and network diagrams.
- Offer technical assistance to users/Help Desk.
- Customer support with VPN/networking issues.
- Analyze and recommend use of new technologies and services to management.
- Assess user needs, recommend the purchase of, and install new workstations.
- Assist in developing annual budget for the department.
- Other job-related duties and expectations as communicated by management.
- Follow Powell policies and procedures at all times.
Job Qualifications – Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, infrastructure, and security; knowledge of SQL Server administration, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, O365, Microsoft Teams including Teams Phones, Microsoft SharePoint, Linux servers, and Python is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technologies and business needs.
- Good oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate technical detail to non-technical people.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience preferred.
