HeartPlace PLLC - USHV has an excellent employment opportunity for an experienced Stress Technician FLOAT. Prior recent working experience as a Stress Technician is required. Experience in cardiology is preferred.
General Summary
Prepares patients and records resting and stress electrocardiograms, while patient walks on treadmill or given pharmacologic stressor agents, under direction of physician, to provide data for diagnosis of heart ailments in accordance with acceptable medical practices and procedures. Travels between clinics to assist with nuclear stress testing. Medical assistant experience is a plus.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
1. Explains testing procedures to patient and obtains consent form.
2. Attaches electrodes to patient's arms, legs, and chest area, according to specified pattern, and connects electrode leads to electrocardiograph, to obtain electrocardiogram.
3. Starts treadmill at speed directed by physician.
4. Starts electrocardiograph and records data, such as angle and speed of treadmill, patient's indications of pain, and measurements of blood pressure.
5. Informs physician of wave abnormalities on electrocardiogram.
6. Stands alongside patient during test to lend support if necessary.
7. Removes recorder strip printout from machine upon conclusion of test to obtain permanent record of test.
8. Edits and mounts representative samples of tracings for patient's record, indicating time of test measurement and bodily factors that could have affected recording.
9. Cleans, adjusts, and performs routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning.
10. Assists in the training of new personnel.
11. Maintains accurate inventory of materials and supplies.
12. Verifies patient appointments the day before, to ensure use of isotope.
13. Assists in notifying patients of special instructions prior to testing, i.e., “do not take any medication 24 hours prior to visit.”
14. Escorts patients to check-out.
15. Participates in attaining insurance precertification for tests
16. Assists with quality assurance exercises
17. Provides excellent customer service and the highest quality patient care.
18. Follows all OSHA and other safety guidelines.
19. Maintains current CPR certification.
20. At all times protects the confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) of patients per HIPAA regulations; does not normally have business need for seeing PHI of employees.
21. Actively demonstrates teamwork at all times.
22. Adheres to company safety standards at all times, such that no serious (requiring medical attention) injury occurred during the prior 12-month period.
23. Follows other policies and procedures such that there are no verbal or written warnings during the evaluation period.
24. Performs all other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. At least one year of practical experience sufficient to perform required tasks.
3. Current CPR certification.
4. Fluently speak, read, and write English.
5. Understanding of OSHA requirements in a clinical setting
6. Understanding of HIPAA requirements.
7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
8. Ability to work in a different clinic setting each day, if required.
9. Ability to meet physical demands of the job which include, but are not limited to: standing, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, transporting supplies or equipment, walking for extended periods of time, and occasionally lifting and carrying items which may weigh up to 40 pounds.
10. Vision and hearing must be within or correctable to within normal range.
11. Must have reliable transportation
