Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team at a public school. The ideal candidate will have experience in early intervention and behavioral health to support students with diverse needs.
Position Requirements:
- Creates positive and respectful relationships with students, staff, parents, administrators and professional agencies who work on behalf of the student.
- Works cooperatively with student, parents, professional staff, general education teacher and administrator regarding the educational, social and personal needs of the student to implement their individual education plan.
- Teaches socially acceptable behavior, as determined from data sources such as student's functional behavioral assessment, systematic observations and other quantitative and qualitative data sources.
- Completes necessary reporting and daily record keeping as required by corporation procedures.
- Develops, implement, monitors and evaluates Individual Educational Plans for each student that include present levels of educational performance, special education needs, instructional goals and objectives and the special education services and related services required to meet those goals.
- Attends team meetings and collaborates with the general education teacher and prepares appropriate lesson plans and objectives based upon individual student's IEP goals and grade level expectations.
- Provides lesson plans for paraprofessionals and provide ongoing supervision and mentoring to ensure the IEP is being implemented.
- Coordinates student's inclusion into general education classes and activities as an inclusion teacher.
- Co-teaches with general education teacher in a large group, small groups and leads pre-teaching and/or remedial groups based on student needs in the general education classroom.
- Teaches one or more resource class(es) to support student's inclusion classes as assigned.
- Utilizes a variety of learning styles in instructional activities to ensure all students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
- Performs education assessments in accordance with the state standards, district policies, school programs and IEP goals.
- Develops, implements, monitors and revised behavior support plans as required by the students for education success.
- Participates in research based training and service as a team member, consultant and leader to the special education department, school support team and administration in the area of Special Education practices and procedures.
- Complies with all corporation and state reporting requirements within mandated timeline.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Special Education
- Holds a valid Indiana Teaching License in Mild Intervention or Specific Learning Disability.
- Strong classroom management skills to create a supportive learning environment
- Willing to collaborate and work as a team member to facilitate student services and needs in an inclusion setting.

Pay: $43,000.00 - $71,000.00 per year
