The Preschool at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church (The Preschool) is a 501c(3) nonprofit institution in Atlanta, Georgia. Located on Peachtree Road United Methodist Church (PRUMC) beautiful Buckhead campus, The Preschool is an independent, faith based school for children 12 months through 6 years-old. We are committed to nurturing the whole child in preparation for the most distinguished public and private primary schools in Atlanta. The Preschool has been fully accredited for many years, first by the National Association for Education of Young Children (NAEYC) in 1991 and by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS)/AdvancED (most recently renamed Cognia) since 2008. These distinctions ensure that our school meets certain qualifications and the highest standards of childhood education.
Lead Teacher must meet the following minimum requirements: Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Human Development, Elementary Education or related field. Lead Teacher’s must possess valid Georgia Teaching Certificate.
Assistant Teacher preferred requirements: to include twenty-four postsecondary semester or equivalent quarter units in early childhood education or child development completed, with passing grades and at least 3 years’ work experience in a licensed and nationally accredited preschool program. Twelve of the required units shall include courses that cover the general areas of child growth and development; child, family and community, or child, family, community and program/curriculum; or, a Child Development Associate (CDA) Certification of 120 hours.
- Plan, supervise and implement the program for the class in accordance with the policies and philosophy of The Preschool
- Plan daily schedules and long term projects of study in accordance with a developmentally appropriate balance of play/center based activities and materials to meet the needs of the whole child; the social, emotional, cognitive, motor, academic readiness, approaches to learning and spiritual growth and development according Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards
- Keep the staff, administration and the families apprised of these plans through the various systems of planning, implementing and documentation
- Gear the program to the needs of the individual child with concern for their interests, special needs and talents, and individual style and pace of learning within the context of typical expectations and development
- Consider the individual child in relationship to their cultural and socio-economic background and treat all equally with respect and consideration
- Ensure that children are supervised at all times
- Treat each child with respect and affection, in a friendly, courteous, loving and respectful manner
- Encourage each child in his/her spiritual growth and development. Help them learn to know God as a friend; a personal, loving Creator that created each of them with inherent value, significance, and individual worth
- Encourage each child in a positive, loving relationship with their families.
- Help each child become aware of their role as an integral member of a group
- Encourage teamwork and conversation, cooperation, taking turns, and helping one another
- Encourage independence in children
- Use positive approaches to help children behave constructively
- Encourage and demonstrate sound health, safety and nutritional practices
- Encourage physical development, both small and large muscle use
- Encourage children to think, reason, question, experiment and to learn through discovery
- Encourage creative expression through art, drama, language, movement and music on a daily basis
- Encourage children to use and further develop their language skills and comprehension
- With the rest of the faculty, help plan and implement special events and celebrations

Pay: $14,000.00 - $38,668.00 per year
