Job Title: Supervisor of Direct Care Staff – UFR # 133

Salary Range: $47,840 - $57,840
Primary Responsibility: Direct Coaching and Supervision of Direct Care Staff and ensuring the house milieu is a supportive and enriched environment for the youth.
Essential Duties:
- Assume administrative responsibility for the direct care program in the absence from the facility of all administrators
- Responsible for ensuring that all incidents/concerns occurring on the shift are properly documented and reported to the Program Director/On Call Administrator as promptly as necessary
- Participate in the training and orientation of new and seasoned child care counselors as necessary
- Supervise and coach child care counselors to ensure youth in the homes are healthy, safe, supported and provided with an enriched and nurturing home environment
- Responsible for developing and following a schedule for the house that is inclusive of the youth’s needs and interests
- Assist management in scheduling Direct Care Staff, especially unexpected absences
- Participate in admission procedures and review information on each youth considered for admission; during placement, have regular and frequent contact with the Clinician and other staff members regarding the youth’s adjustment and progress
- Meet at least once weekly with the Program Director or Assistant Program Director for coaching and supervision, reporting on the job performance of supervised staff and other matters
- Meet on a regular basis with the other supervisors of Direct Care Workers to assure consistent and effective communication concerning our direct care services to the youth in care
- Participate in administrative staff meetings, case conferences, & weekly team supervision
- Responsible for knowing and implementing all of Nazareth’s policies and procedures
- Responsible for ensuring that all child care counselors are following Nazareth’s policies and procedures while working with youth.
- Supervise, coach and assist the direct care workers in their carrying out of job responsibilities in the residence for each youth according to age, ability, interest, and development of responsibility for one’s residence
- Meet periodically with the Clinician to assure effective communication between the Clinician and the Direct Care Workers and coordinate meetings between the Clinician and the Direct Care Workers as needed
General Responsibilities:
- Inform the Clinician regarding youth’s response to home/family visits
- With the Direct Care Workers, evaluate the youth’s independence in leaving the grounds and follow procedures for requesting such permission
- Monitor the academic needs, school placement, and progress of children in consultation with the child’s teacher; work with teachers for after-school educational activities and homework
- Respect, maintain, and honor confidentiality
- Make regular and accurate entries in youth/students’ records describing the youth/student’s progress and significant events in accordance with the regulations for licensing by the Department of Early Education and Care
- Complete the required hours and courses for orientation, training, and ongoing in-service education
- Keep the Program Director and the Assistant Program Director informed regarding group activities, the progress of individual youth, the particular problems they might have, especially those which involve other staff members, and all significant events within the group
- Report to the Program Director and/or On Call Administrator in the event of serious behavior or management problem of any youth
- Meet periodically with the Clinician to assure effective communication
- Perform and complete any other tasks as assigned

Education
- Associate degree preferred
Qualifications:
- MAP certification
- Strong documentation and behavior data tracking skill set
- Great trauma informed care philosophy
- Associate degree preferred
- Minimum of three years’ direct care experience preferred
- Minimum of one year child care supervisory experience preferred
- Must have a valid driver’s license
Knowledge/Experience:
- Certified in MAP, First Aid, C.P.R., Physical Restraint, Mandated Reporting, Fire Safety, and all other required annual trainings
Skills/Abilities:
- Provides direct coaching and supervision of employees
- Supports and directs the direct care staff in the discharge and performance of their respective duties and responsibilities

Physical/Mental Requirements:
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Bilingual capacity in English/Spanish an asset.
- Must be able to communicate effectively by telephone and in person.
- Must be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and have the ability to quickly learn any needed new computer skills
- Must be able to record clear messages and keep accurate records of all types of communications.
- Must be able to bend, assist in lifting a person, twist and sit on floor for implementation of daily schedule.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to physically escort and/or physically restrain residents.
- Must have manual dexterity and motor skills to grasp and lift objects.
- Must be able to bend and lift to purchase and/or access program supplies.
- Must be able to walk and climb stairs for entry and mobility throughout the buildings, which may have several levels of stairs as well as for program implementation.
- Must be able to walk, run and hike, swim and join in other physical activities with individuals.
- Must demonstrate maturity and ability to deal effectively with emotionally demanding and stressful situations.
- Must be able to observe behavior, interactions between individuals and relate observations to the appropriate person.
- Must be able to understand and carry out both written and verbal directions and instructions in a timely manner.
- Must be able to meet deadlines and complete work in an environment that may at times be noisy and chaotic.
- Must have the ability to prioritize work responsibilities and be flexible as necessary to the current work load.
- Must be able to travel to various sites to attend meetings, conferences, and seminars.
- Must continue to achieve a satisfactory competency and performance evaluation annually.
SHIFT SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday 8am-4pm
