About Custom Air Handling Solutions: We are a rapidly growing company that manufacturers large, Custom Industrial Air Handing Units, Boiler System Skids, Chiller System Skids, and pumping systems. Some of these units require HVAC controls. You would perform Unit startup, commissioning, diagnosing, troubleshooting (both in the factory and in the field). If you have skills in programming other duties may involve programming and fine tuning of systems. Minor rewiring and final site terminations of control may be needed. Niagara base graphic page editing and programming. We would like this person to work into the role of Lead Control Technician and Programmer.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
1. Newly manufactured equipment.
a. In the factory (75%):
i. Programming of VFD’s
ii. Inspecting controls installation. Sensors, Dampers, Valves
iii. Loading and testing controller programs
iv. Addressing Controls and Peripheral Devices
v. Point to Point Checks
vi. Assist team with the final factory inspection of the units. Fill out factory inspection reports
b. In the Field (25%):
i. Re-inspect units, make note of damage that may have occurred during shipment and installation. Fill out Site inspection report.
ii. Check and possibly wire field installed sensors, Valves and other
iii. Quick Redo of Point-to-Point Checks
iv. Address Unit Controls as needed for onsite BAS contractor
v. Startup unit and test operation. Fill out control’s startup reports
2. Most work site startup work will be within a 2-hour drive radius of Raleigh NC.
3. Some overnight stays may be required or desired to reduce driving time and complete jobs.
4. A small percentage of Long Distance out town travel will be required. This travel would most often include Airline flights, Rental Cars, Hotels and Meals. All expenses would be covered by the company.
QUALIFICATIONS (not all needed but starting pay would be based on these qualifications)
1. Good knowledge of HVAC / air conditioning systems and controls.
2. High school diploma, plus either 2-year technical degree or military service.
3. Strong troubleshooting skills. Good knowledge of electricity and electrical circuits.
4. Ability to read and understand the following drawings.
a. Mechanical piping flow diagrams
b. PNID drawings
c. Equipment Line voltage Electrical Diagrams
d. Controls Wiring diagram.
e. Equipment User manual wiring diagrams.
5. Working knowledge of BACnet Communication protocol.
6. Basic IP addressing and networking.
7. Ability to interface with customers and site personnel for schedule of on-site units. By Email, By phone and by text.
8. Ability to use basic hand tools, Electrical Multimeter and Digital Manometer.
9. Experience and ability to program Variable frequency Drives.
10. High school diploma, plus either 2-year technical degree or military service.
11. Strong troubleshooting skills.
12. Basic knowledge of electricity and electrical circuits.
13. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
14. Knowledgeable in contracting processes and subcontractor relationships.
15. Familiarity with energy management systems, HVAC systems, and temperature controls.
16. Tridium Niagara experience
a. Station Startups
b. Graphics Development
c. Wiresheet programming
d. Modbus to Niagara gateway programming
17. Understanding of MODBUS networking.
18. Electrical Experience. High Voltage 460v/3PH Circuit design understanding
19. AutoCAD experience
20. VPN’s
This position has no supervisory responsibilities, and reports to the Controls and Electrical Manger. It's common to coordinate with an electrical subcontractor onsite, plus be partnered with a project manager and/or project engineer.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $33.00 - $39.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 42 per week
