Job Summary:
We are seeking compassionate individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals. As a Direct Support Professional, you will provide essential care and support to Adults in need.
Responsibilities:
To provide direct care services as needed. This includes, but is
not limited to, the provision of counseling, training in ADLs
(Assisted Daily Living skills), assistance with personal care,
medical, dietary, social, safe sex awareness, recreational,
financial, habilitative and other needs within the program.
● Ensure the health, safety, and wellness of everyone we support
● Support with intimate care functions.
● Build and maintain positive relationships.
● Participating in development of treatment plans.
● Crisis intervention and management.
● Completing mandatory training based on the program and
position ( CPR/First Aid, Defensive, Effective Communication
and or Driving, etc.), as well as any other applying skills.
● Meeting, demonstrating, and modeling Professionalism
● Assist the client’s we support in maximizing their strengths,
interests, and capabilities through teaching, self-advocacy, and
emotional support.
● Facilitate community integration, recreational activities, and
socialization.
● Completing documentation to ensure compliance and billing.
● Competency Training with the team.
● Taking on additional tasks outside of basic DSP work/completing
job related tasks as needed.

● Must adhere to policy, procedures and regulations
● Using effective communication skills and time management skills
● May need to provide one-to-one support in community and or
day center
● Maintaining a therapeutic environment through a variety of
methods: Personal Outcome Measures, Person Centered
Thinking and or Informed Decision Making.
● Ability to meet essential physical demands of position, including
frequent walking, sitting, standing, bending, twisting, stooping,
kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling and reaching with hands
and arms; use hands to handle, finger or feel objects, tools or
controls; assisting with lifting/moving individuals of any weight
with assistance of equipment and/or other staff.
● Lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds on occasions; having the
physical capacity to work with and implement emergency
interventions as per the person’s Individual Behavior Support
Plan and Individual Emergency Intervention Plan, if/as needed.
● Completion of annual continuing education units (CEUs) for
professional development through competency-based training as
required by Titles 17 & 22
Skills:
- Experience with Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities care is preferred
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- 18 Years old or older
- Valid California Driver's License or State ID Required
- Tuberculosis test is mandatory for All Positions- An acceptable proof of negative TB test results within the last year
- CPR Certified Preferred but will train- Must obtain before direct client contact
- Criminal Background Check, fingerprinting and additional relevant/required clearances as required by Federal, State and Local government or other agencies
- Completion of Health Screening
