Under the direction of the Controller, this position is responsible for performing accurate, complete and timely GL account reconciliations, journal entries, cash receipts, fixed assets analysis and expense allocations. Individual will also participate in preparation of monthly financial statements ensuring entries are done according to the company’s policies and procedures. These are to be compliant with both internal controls and external audit requirements. CPA Preferred. Bachelor's Degree with minimum 5 years experience in Affordable Housing in progressively challenging roles required.
Responsibilities
- Intricate involvement in the day-to-day full cycle accounting process including journal entries, month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements within established schedules.
- Review, analyze and reconcile all cash and investments accounts.
- Review profit and loss statements at month-end and validate that all the expenses are captured and coded correctly.
- Review monthly financial statements and provide variance analysis to budget for each property.
- Assist with budget preparation, prepare audit schedules and year-end financial audit.
- Support cash management functions, include process outgoing wires and Intercompany fund transfers.
- Maintain asset depreciation, debt and prepaid expense amortization schedules.
- Perform accounting functions and support to ensure adherence to GAAP.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
- Perform month-end, quarter-end, year-end close and prepare financial statements for review by management.
- Review, investigate, compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries, adjusting entries and/or reclass entries to balance sheet and/or accounts.
- Review general ledger reports and accrue expenses and prepaid expenses or reclass those expenses accordingly to GAAP accounting principles.
- Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures and compliance with HUD Financial requirements.
- Review, investigate, and correct errors or inconsistencies of financial journal entries.
- Document findings with supporting schedules.
- Prepare roll-forward fixed assets, amortization, accrued expense and prepaid schedules on balance sheet accounts.
- Assist with Accounts Payable process, collaboratively working with Promex team and with all our property managers to resolve any issues or discrepancies with billing and payments.
- Assist with year-end audits and tax filings.
- Assist the Controller with consistent improvement of technical financial software and enhancement of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) Cloud Database Platform.
- Assist the Controller with any ad-hoc projects which are in line with Company’s vision and goals of President and Vice President.
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or finance required. CPA Preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of Affordable Housing/LIHTC experience in progressively challenging accounting roles
- Solid problem-solving and time management skills
- Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
- Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
- Experience in Property Management, residential or commercial
- Highly proficient in G Suite, Real Page, One Site, MS Office, QuickBooks
