The Flexo Printer Machine Operator is responsible for setup and operation of a new state of the art, quick change over, 4 color flexo paperboard printing press capable of 130-line screen print. The flexo print operator will need to follow safe, efficient work practices and ensures quality product with minimal scrap rates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up and run complex flexographic printing jobs using photopolymer plates mounted to printing sleeves.
- Install and change plates/sleeves, bridges, inks, coatings, anilox as required in job specifications.
- Produce according to quality standards facilitating quick turn times and achievement of production goals
- Complete quality checks to ensure that the printed product meets all functional requirements.
- While running the press, review printed material for quality including color registration and color match.
- Ensure proper data collection for each job, including job notes on material and time variance
- Perform basic troubleshooting of the press along with the Press crew and Supervisor
- As needed, you may be required to mount or strip plates, make inks, wash up press components (not sure on this)
- Perform scheduled machine maintenance and cleaning throughout the shift and at end of shift. Direct the machine crew as needed to complete all assigned work orders.
- Maintain the work area and machines in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed company policies and safety regulations
- Actively participate in continuous improvement activities and participate in additional press operator training when offered or needed.
- Constant lifting, standing, crouching, walking, and associated repetitive tasks
- Additional duties as required.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Mechanical experience or machine operation
- Significant flexo paperboard printing experience with minimum of 3 years a must.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment, meeting production performance indicators.
- Able to perform troubleshooting to diagnose and correct quality problems.
- Experience with hand tools.
- Able to understand heavy equipment maintenance and operations.
- Be able to perform calculator math functions (add, subtract, multiply and divide)
- Accurately read and use measuring devices
- Visually inspect product and equipment against set criteria.
