Job Position: Engineering, Repair, and Maintenance Technician
Maintenance Technician, Handyman, electrical, OSHA, mechanical, plumbing, construction
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform maintenance and repairs.
- Perform routine daily repairs of wearable parts.
- Electrical, mechanical, and plumbing experience.
- Welding and shop tools.
- Proficient with hand tools, drills, saws, pipe wrenches.
- Undertake duties as assigned or emergency tasks (e.g. pallet making, fill in line work).
- Note: May be asked to work on duties outside of this description based on skills.
Performs semi-skilled & skilled:
- Carpentry & masonry repairs.
- Plumbing equipment (e.g. water & steam lines, sewer pipes, trap fittings, plumbing fixtures, pumps, regulators, valves, toilets, sinks, heating, air conditioning, boilers, etc.)
- Operated machine tools & welding equipment in making repairs to metal parts & equipment.
- On continuous basis, inspects buildings & equipment for needed repairs or replacements & performs systematic & routine preventive maintenance of assigned area.
- Must be able to repair all types of mechanical and electrical equipment ad possess good mechanical and electrical trouble-shooting skills.
- Be able to use measuring and testing equipment such as; multimeters, ammeters, micrometers, calipers and dial indicators in performing job duties.
- Be able to read and understand blueprints and schematics to determine job requirements, material, and procedures.
- Must have good metal fabricating skills, be proficient in ARC and/or MIG Welding, and be able to use acetylene torches for brazing and cutting metals.
- Be able to use machine shop equipment such as; milling machines, lathes, surface grinders, and drill presses.
- Be able to cut, thread, and Install steel piping and conduit, using associated equipment such as threading machines and pipe benders.
- Be skilled in hydraulic and pneumatic circuitry.
- Have a good working knowledge of medium pressure steam boilers and associated equipment such as; chemical feed pumps and condensate return systems.Performs all duties assigned in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
- Performs general housekeeping in the maintenance department and surrounding areas to maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Company and OSHA standards.
- Professional interaction with internal and external customers.
- Maintains a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
- Utilizes standard shop hand tools, measuring devices, and equipment. .
- Assists with preventive maintenance service to grease, oil and lubricate components as instructed.
- Assists technicians to check, fill, and/or change appropriate fluids for all equipment parts and check/change filters.
- Clean facilities by sweeping, dusting, fire prevention, etc.
- Perform maintenance and light repairs
- Perform routine landscaping on the grounds
- Paint and fill gaps or crevices (on walls, sidewalks etc.)
- Welding knowledge
- Proficient with hand tools, drills, saws, pipe wrenches
- Assist and learn from tradespeople with electrical, plumbing or HVAC repairs.
- Undertake duties as assigned or emergency tasks (e.g., pallet making, shoveling snow)

REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling.
- Mechanical aptitude preferred.
- Self-starter, aggressive work ethic and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Safety conscious.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
- Additional skills may be required to perform additional task(s) specific to work location, department, or line of business.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have at least a valid driver's license.
- Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
- Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.
- WORKING CONDITIONS
- Exposure to noise, heat, dust, and fumes as found in a repair facility.
- Exposure to extreme weather conditions possible.
- Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
