- Occupational Therapist (OT):
- Job Description: Help individuals who have physical, mental, developmental, or emotional disabilities improve their ability to perform tasks in their daily living and working environments. This may include activities such as dressing, cooking, using a computer, or engaging in leisure activities.
- Responsibilities:
- Evaluate patients' abilities and develop treatment plans.
- Help patients improve their motor skills, cognitive abilities, and emotional well-being through various therapeutic activities.
- Teach patients how to use adaptive equipment and assistive devices.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
- Qualifications: A master's degree in occupational therapy and state licensure are typically required.
- Physical Therapist (PT):
- Job Description: Will work with patients with developmental and intellectual disabilities to improve their physical abilities. They will focus on improving mobility, reducing pain, and preventing disability through exercises, manual therapy, and other techniques.
- Responsibilities:
- Assess persons' physical abilities and develop personalized treatment plans.
- Implement interventions to reduce pain, improve strength, flexibility, and mobility.
- Educate persons and their families about home exercise programs and injury prevention strategies.
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to optimize person's care.
- Qualifications: A doctoral degree in physical therapy (DPT) and state licensure are typically required.
- Nutrition Clinician:
- Job Description: Nutrition clinicians will assess persons' nutritional needs and develop plans to improve their health through dietary interventions.
- Responsibilities:
- Evaluate patients' nutritional status and needs.
- Develop personalized nutrition plans based on medical history, dietary preferences, and health goals.
- Provide nutrition counseling and education to persons with disabilities.
- Monitor persons' progress and adjust nutrition plans as needed.
- Qualifications: A bachelor's or master's degree in nutrition or dietetics, and registration or licensure as a dietitian or nutritionist are typically required.
