Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of patients in the progressive care / step down setting, including monitoring vital signs, evaluating the severity of illness, and identifying changes in condition.
Critical Care: Provide specialized care to critically ill patients with a range of medical conditions, including cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and surgical cases.
Medication Administration: Administer medications, intravenous therapies, and blood products as prescribed by healthcare providers, following established protocols and safety guidelines.
Monitoring and Documentation: Continuously monitor and meticulously document patient vital signs, symptoms, and responses to treatment. Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans. Participate in patient care conferences and contribute to treatment strategies.
Emergency Response: Respond promptly to changes in patient condition, initiate life-saving interventions, and participate in code blue and other emergency situations as needed.
Family Support: Educate and support patients' families, helping them understand the patient's condition, treatment plan, and prognosis. Provide emotional support and facilitate communication with the healthcare team.
Infection Control: Strictly adhere to infection control protocols to prevent the spread of infections within the PCU.
Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain specialized medical equipment used in the ICU, such as ventilators, cardiac monitors, and infusion pumps.
Patient Advocacy: Advocate for patients' rights and preferences, ensuring their autonomy and dignity are respected throughout their care.
Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the safety and effectiveness of PCU care at each travel assignment location.
Qualifications:
- Current RN licensure in the state of [Specify State].
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to new environments and work effectively in diverse healthcare settings.
- Commitment to continuing education and professional development.
- Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to adapt to varying work environments.
