Role Summary
The Imaging Scientist will engage in providing Ophthalmic imaging services including, but not limited to, optical coherence tomography, confocal scanning laser ophthalmology, contact wide-field color fundus imaging, and fluorescein angiography as indicated by study protocol. The Imaging Scientist I: Ophthalmology will assist in ophthalmology imaging protocol development and provide additional imaging-related training to technical staff.
This is a salaried position that has no supervisory responsibilities.
Role Responsibilities
- Optical coherence tomography, confocal scanning laser ophthalmology, contact wide-field color fundus imaging, and fluorescein angiography as indicated by the study protocol.
- GLP data collection
- Imaging equipment maintenance
- Study set-up, including creation of paperwork and procurement of equipment.
- Mentor and train/coordinate training of applicable laboratory staff.
- Support Study Directors on study design as it pertains to imaging functions.
- Evaluate and amend procedures to keep up with best practices in the industry.
- Cross training in Fluoroscopy/X-Ray, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and Sonography.
- Assist with anesthetic monitoring as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Role Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent, in an imaging-related discipline. CRA/OCT-C preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of ophthalmology imaging-related experience preferred.
- Ability to independently perform, direct, and assist with imaging procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot imaging techniques and associated imaging equipment.
- Ability to speak to the scientific relevance of imaging techniques.

Special Requirements
- The person filling this position will spend approximately 35% of the time in an office setting and 65% in the laboratory. There will be exposure to animal pathogens and chemicals. There will be handling of, and/or exposure to animal tissue and zoonotic organisms.
- Ability to don and wear personal protective gear, including N95 masks and respirators.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Physical activity includes lifting (up to 50 lbs), carrying (up to 40 lbs for up to 50 feet), pushing/pulling, reaching, gripping/pinching, and standing without restriction.
- Ability to work beyond typical work schedule including evenings, weekends, and extended shifts with short notice.
