Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, is seeking a CARE Team Clinician. The CARE Team Mental Health Clinician offers comprehensive psychological services to students, including psychological intake assessments, individual and group counseling, urgent response/crisis intervention services, and mental health evaluations for risk.
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
- Diagnoses and assesses counseling and treatment needs and conducts crisis assessments, interventions, and management for distressed students
- Provides hands-on case management for on- and off-campus referrals, monitors students of concern, and participates in discharge planning
- Requires knowledge and experience of psychotherapy, the ability to operate within systems, and the ability to develop a database of viable and appropriate mental health resources for various levels of care (e.g. outpatient, inpatient, intensive outpatient, etc)
- Provides ethical and responsible treatment of students by prioritizing completing administrative tasks, including intake assessments, treatment plan reviews, progress notes, crisis notes, and discharge summaries
- Actively serves on the Campus Awareness Response and Education (CARE) Team and Threat Assessment and Safety Committee (TASC) and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to enhance student support
- Engages with the campus community including providing outreach, consultation, and educational services as requested.
