Position Summary:
The Facilities Technician maintains all building equipment in good working condition, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical; lighting and climate control systems; roofing systems; and maintenance/cleaning equipment.
Essential Functions

Complete all maintenance and repair tasks as directed by Facilities Director and Supervisor.

Monitor operation and proper use of all equipment and systems

Troubleshoot and repair issues throughout the school

Answer and respond to maintenance calls for assistance

Monitor the use and inventory of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment

Coordinates shutdown and start-ups of utilities when conditions require it

Follows procedures of Work Orders and Preventive Maintenance

Communicate accurately and effectively with Department Heads, co-workers, staff, and guests.

Adhere to safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures

Assists Facilities Supervisor in maintaining and repairing fire and life safety systems, room equipment, HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems, kitchen appliances, refrigeration equipment, lighting, and other systems/equipment as directed

Other duties and special projects as assigned
Required Qualifications

A minimum education level of High School Diploma or its equivalency

1+ years of hands-on experience with general facilities maintenance and electrical equipment

Excellent organizational skills

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines

Ability to read, write, and understand English in a working environment

Works effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedules to produce accurate results

Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Ability to interact with all levels of staff including management

Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic

Knowledge of safe work practices, procedures, tools, equipment, and techniques used in the trades

Ability to work irregular/extended hours; including nights, and weekends, (required)

Computer skills: sufficient computer knowledge to operate automated systems including operation of personal computer using Google software

Must be able to work indoors and outdoors; subject to adverse conditions
Abilities
-
Frequent lifting, pushing and carrying weights up to 50 lbs. and greater for all facility equipment and machinery

Mobility throughout the facility, all floors, varying heights and distances. Use of ladders and lifts required at times
-
Continuous standing is required in varying degrees throughout the day
-
Frequent bending and/or kneeling throughout the day for repairs and maintenance of the school equipment and machinery.
