This is a 30 hour per week Elementary School Nurse position located at the prestigious University of Texas Elementary School in downtown Austin, Texas. The University of Texas Elementary School is a public charter school and follows all state and federal regulations for public school services. The University of Texas Elementary School is a part of the University of Texas at Austin’s College of Education. Start date is August 1, 2024.
Purpose
Serve as school nurse
Responsibilities
- Plans, directs and assists in the individualized skilled professional nursing care of all students and school staff.
- Administers medications and treatments as ordered by a physician and/or within defined school health protocols.
- Participates in the administration of nursing service by directing, supervising and assisting the nonprofessional personnel in giving patient care. Performs related duties as required.
- Plans, implements and documents state mandated student health screenings.
- Supervises student nurses in coordination with UT School of Nursing Faculty.
Required Qualifications
Currently licensed to practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse by the State of Texas. Must be in good standing with the Texas Board of Nursing Examiners.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by the State of Texas. Elementary School Nurse experience.
Salary Range
$45,000 + depending on qualifications
