A Day in the Life of a Production team member includes a mix of customer order intake and invoicing, with upselling opportunities, hands-on production, routing and delivery, and customer service.

Functional Description
At Sputnik, we do things differently. We’re looking for a new team member who is hard working, flexible and energized by being part of the process of getting delicious coffee to our awesome customers.
The Production Lead responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Organizing all wholesale orders in online system
- Reaching out to store managers via phone and email to drive additional orders
- Preparing invoices and order summaries
- Providing detailed Daily Order summary to team members
- Communicating effectively with store managers to provide excellent customer service and solve problems
- Setup and calibrate production machinery
- Coffee packaging and sealing machinery
- Brewing and bottling machinery
- Troubleshoot any issues
- Daily and weekly cleaning of all production equipment
- Running production, bag coffee and bottle cold coffee
- Ensuring Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) are maintained
- Running continuous quality control to ensure excellent final product quality
- Loading delivery van and creating a route plan for deliveries
- Delivery of all orders to grocery stores/partner cafes. Up to 25-30 stops/day.
- Identifying opportunities to make production and delivery process more efficient
- Serving as key point of contact via phone, email and in person for all grocery store-related customer service issues
- Review production data reports to identify any missed deliveries or orders
The ideal candidate will be effective in managing their time and prioritizing responsibilities. They will work independently and be flexible as issues arise. While they will have the full support of the rest of the team, they are expected to handle production independently from start to finish.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with their hands and creating a physical product, whether it's a freshly roasted bag of coffee or a delicious bottle of cold brew.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Availability to work a total of 5 days per week, possibility of Saturday or Sunday
- Available to start work day at 6:00 am
- Valid Driver's License and clean driving record
- Ability to make 20-30 deliveries per day. Average 6-9 hours drive time at least 2 days a week
- Ability to travel within a 75 mile radius of Chicago during weekdays and weekends
- Company van will be provided for work-related travel
- 1 year commitment
- Willingness to work in non-air conditioned production environment
- Ability to lift 50 pounds comfortably
- Food Safety Manager Certification course completion will be required after hiring
- Willingness to learn Google Suite (Gmail, Google Sheets, Docs), Salesforce and Quickbooks
- Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, and twisting over surfaces.
- Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing ladders
- Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face mask, a hair/beard net, and gloves when required.
