Wage Rate: $25.37/Hour - Step Increases after 6 months and 12 months.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Cell Turret Machine Operator will perform a wide range of operations on various families of production parts made from castings, steel, cast iron, stainless steel, aluminum, etc. They will perform rough and finish turning, boring, facing, drilling, milling and tapping. Set up and operate a variety of machines such as N/C machines, manual machines, gear cutting machines and supporting secondary machines determined by the needs of each cell to finish a family of parts including assembly of components where required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Required to perform own setups involving use of chucks, centers, fixtures, face plates, arbors and all attachments for each machine.
- Set ups may require blocking and clamping to obtain proper alignment of work to spindle and the use of chucks and fixtures to hold work and to avoid distortion, moving or springing of parts.
- Operate will preset tools, select speeds and feeds according to type of material and finish required.
- Change and replace broken or dulled tools as required.
- Work from drawings, sketches, process sheets, shop orders, specifications, instructions, and Bills of Material.
- Follow written or verbal instruction to determine operational sequence.
- First piece and periodic checks on all operations and maintain many co-related dimensions on holes, diameters, bores, grooves, surfaces, angles etc.
- Checking and inspecting work as necessary to ensure adherence to drawing specifications, program directives, and quality standards.
- Application of various protective coatings on finished parts
- Maintenance of machines by replenishing coolant and lubricants.
- Work closely with Programmers, Group Leaders, Methods Engineers and Management to standardize work process and procedures is required.
- The ability to work with CNC machine controls, computers, and their software is required. Ability to edit code as needed.
- The ability to work well in a team environment and willingness to help others is required.
- Maintain specified records of work performed, material processed, and any changes made to any program is required.
- Deburr parts and load and unload multiple station fixtures or set ups as required during machine operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One to Two years of Mill Machining experience or educational/training certificate.
- GD&T Knowledge a plus.
- Ability to work with metric and imperial measurements.
