JOB DESCRIPTION
The HR Generalist is a self starter who takes initiative, playing a crucial role in the organization’s success. This role supports all HR functions, policies, and procedures. The HR Generalist completes tasks assigned by the HR Director to help monitor and maintain the organization, quality, and efficiency of the HR Department. The HR Generalist carries out day-to-day tasks including but not limited to recruiting, onboarding, policy edits, and filing important documents while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- The HR Generalist assists the HR Director with all assigned documents and projects, helping to ensure all data is accurate for reporting purposes, tracking all projects in our project management software.
- Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Familiarize yourself with our company policies, procedures, and the employee handbook so you can assist with employee inquiries.
- Handle employee onboarding and offboarding processes efficiently and accurately.
- Assist in recruitment and selection activities, including screening candidates, conducting interviews, and coordinating hiring processes.
- Assist in maintaining employee records and HR databases with utmost confidentiality and accuracy.
- Administer employee benefits and leave programs in compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Provide guidance and support to employees and managers regarding HR-related matters, including performance management, employee relations, and conflict resolution; escalate matters as appropriate.
- Conduct yourself in a professional and ethical manner, upholding confidentiality and respecting employee privacy.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Maintain open and effective communication with employees, managers, and the HR team.
- Respond promptly and professionally to HR-related inquiries and requests.
- Collaborate with team members to improve HR processes and initiatives.
- Keep the HR team informed of any significant issues or concerns that may arise.
- Partner with the HR Director and other stakeholders to work on culture improving initiatives.
- General Administrative Support: Providing general administrative support to the HR team, including preparing correspondence and maintaining office supplies.
- Training and Development Coordination: Assisting with the coordination and logistics of training and development programs, including scheduling training sessions, tracking attendance, and collecting feedback.
- Ad hoc HR Projects: Supporting HR projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Three years of relevant experience, preferably in hospitality, healthcare, or cannabis. PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
- Benefits administration experience, including educating employees, assisting with open enrollment, onboarding, and termination of benefits/Cobra.
- At least two years of experience working in an HRIS platform and G Suite software required.
- Ability to reliably commute to our office in Rochdale, MA.
- Ability to stand, sit, kneel for extended periods.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, effectively collaborating with individuals on all levels of the organization.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of labor law and HR best practices.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to approach employee inquiries with a customer service mentality.

JOB SCOPE
Operates with direct supervision from the HR Director. Follows established policies and procedures and contributes to the development of new concepts, policies, and procedures, as necessary, to perform job duties and tasks.
