Join our dynamic and fast-paced medical facility as a Surgical Scheduler. We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to manage schedules, research patient benefits, obtain prior-authorizations and act as liaison between the hospital and office. As a Surgical Scheduler, you will play a crucial role in supporting our clinic's operations and providing exceptional patient care.
Duties:
- Schedules all procedures/surgery to be performed in hospital and/or office according to availability, patient needs, practice block time utilization, communicates and coordinates with other practices.
- Coordinates surgery schedule with procedure time, physician time, equipment availability, staffing availability; identifies conflicts and adjusts schedule as needed.
- Monitors surgery schedules and communicates any cancellations to physicians. Tracks patients to ensure rescheduling of clinically necessary surgeries.
- Researches and documents patient benefits, completes Surgical Estimate Form, discusses with patient and collects necessary patient financial responsibility.
-Ensures insurance prior-authorizations are obtained, entered into practice management system, linked to surgery and communicated to hospital.
- Ensures necessary scheduling forms, H&P, PCP clearance and consents are thoroughly completed, signed, faxed to hospital scheduling and placed in patient record.
- Completes patient FMLA/Disability forms and collects appropriate payment(s). Mails scheduling, patient education instructions /pamphlets to patients. Answers patient questions.
- Reconciles surgical schedule with operative notes to ensure accurate and timely billing.
-Serves as practice liaison with hospital scheduling and surgical vendors.
Skills:
- Proficiency in scheduling software
- Adheres to HIPAA regulations
- Experience in a clinic or medical setting, preferably in OBGYN
- Understanding of surgical booking processes
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills to interact with patients and staff effectively
