The WIC Nutrition Aide I will assist with the implementation of the nutrition services component of the local program under the supervision of the local WIC Program Nutritionist.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Conducts nutrition assessment (certification and mid-certification) including diet and health assessment, risk management, food package tailoring, nutrition education, documentation and establishing health or nutrition goals with low risk WIC participants (3 to 5 year old children).
Conducts and documents secondary nutrition education for low-risk child participants either individually or in group setting.
Contacts health professionals for participant anthropometric data or obtains weight and height/length in the office. Enters data into the Statewide WIC Information System (SWIS); plots growth and prenatal weight gain data and orients participants to the program.
Assists in the preparation of nutrition education materials (e.g., newsletters and pamphlets), visual aids (e.g., bulletin boards, displays) and activities (e.g., classes)
Provides program services including scheduling appointments, updating demographic data, responding to calls and performs other clerical responsibilities as needed.
Attends and participates in all training and continuing education sessions offered by the State WIC Program.
Educational / Minimum Requirements:
Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
Must have basic computer literacy and telephone skills.
Must be able to work well independently.
Must be willing and able to travel between multiple office locations as needed.
One year of administrative experience in a counseling office setting is preferred.
Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal) is preferred.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills is preferred.
Excellent organization and customer services skills is preferred.
State/Federal Mandated Licensure or Certification Requirements:

Bristol Hospital Mandated Educational Requirements:
General orientation at time of hire. Fire/Safety/Infection Control annually. Other programs as mandated by Hospital.
Special Requirements:
Computer literacy. Able to use office equipment such as fax, photocopiers, scanning, emailing, and phones.
Physical Requirements:
Extended sitting, together with occasional bending, reaching and stooping. Extended time in front of a computer screen.
Work Environment:
Normal office conditions with adequate lighting and ventilation. Includes customer contact and telephone use. Will interact closely with program participants in a private office setting.
Cognitive Requirements:
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Good interpersonal skills.
