Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting in a healthcare setting, preferably long-term-care.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains accounts receivable records including billing and cash receipts.
- Maintains accounts payable records including purchases and cash disbursements.
- Maintains vendor contract files; investigates, follows-up and resolves issues with A/P and A/R.
- Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Files tax forms with federal, state and local government
- Reconciles bank accounts and general ledger monthly.
- Ensures residents are billed accurately & generates invoices on a monthly basis. Handles resident questions relating to billing and debts due.
- Enters journal entries to debit and credit the company’s accounts.
- Generates accounting and audit reports for cash receipts, accounts payable and receivable, expenditures, and profits and losses.
- As appropriate, identifies and recommends updates to accounting systems and procedures.
- Inspects the budget and general ledger for assigned departments and accounts, ensuring that funds are available, and expenditures are assigned correctly.
- Reviews and/or assists with preparation of financial statements and records provided to Board of Directors, external auditors, and others as requested.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Experience with accounting software, preferably Sage.
- Strong computer skills in MS Excel and Word.
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to efficiently operate a 10-key calculator or equivalent and other related office equipment.
- Knowledge of general financial accounting and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Ability to correctly prepare tax reports.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting roles healthcare setting, preferably non-profit.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
