Outreach Counselor- Bilingual
FLSA Status: Exempt/ Full-time
Summary: Provide individual and group counseling to both English and Spanish speaking clients
Direct Report: Clinical Services Manager
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide support and contribute to a working environment in which all individuals are respected regardless of their individual differences.
- Asses clients' needs and determine their appropriateness for the services at HDNBC. Make referrals to appropriate community resources for clients deemed not appropriate for services.
- Delivers and provides individual and group counseling sessions
- Proactively manage client caseload throught regular follow up calls and scheduling client intakes and appointments. It is expects a minimum of 50% of the counselor's time will be spent providing direct client services.
- Support other clinical team members in translating services in Spanish.
- Assess and conduct intake assessments to establish safety plans, identify case management needs, advocacy needs and readiness for therapeutic services.
- Develop and lead group counseling and psycho-educational sessions for adult and/or child victims of domestic violence
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client services and case notes in compliance with agency guidelines and funding sources.
- Serve as back up for emergency crisis and phone operations
- Attends training as necessary to maintain accurate and adequate knowledge in the field of domestic violence.
- Maintains current licensure and/or certifications and group affliations
- Make recommendation on refining and improving current programs to optimally meet the needs of clients given the resources available.
- Work with management team for organizational development, strategic planning, and coordinator of services
- Conducts on-going communication with Clinical Services Manager and advocacy team.
- Conduct outreach to the community as needed
- Assist in the training and support of clinical interns.
- Participate in agency events
- All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience
- Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field, with a strong preference for trauma- informed services
- At least two years of appropriate clinically supervised, post-degree work experience in categories such as cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy and diagnostic assessment, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses & Certifications
- LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LMSW, LMFT-A, or LPC-A working towards the completion of hours *Licensed counselors incumbent is required to maintain their own certificate of insurance for private consultations
- Valid Texas Driver's License
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of individual and group therapy techniques
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
- Knowledge of and commitment to counseling teachniques which empower victims of domestic violence and knowledge of the human service delivery system
- Knowledge of psychological disorders DSM-V. Knowledge of effective and efficient menthod organizing and maintaing records and ablity to perform the same.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention skills
- Knowledge of community resources
- Knowledge and experience working with victims of trauma (1 year minimum)
- Working Knowledge of dynamics of domestic violence
- Knowledge of the power and control whell
- Experience cultivating and maintaining effective relationships with a diverse group of people and remain sensitive to their concerns
- Ability to present a positive and professional image of the agency
- Ability to work as a team member
- Ability to work independently, set goals and accomplish with a sense of urgency
- Ability to maintain client and agency confidentiallity
- Ability to follow proper safety protocols and agency policies to ensure the safety and well-being of staff and clients
- Ability to be on-time and maintain a regular, consistent schedule

Physical Requirements: Duties are usually performed while sitting with occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited physical effort is required associated with lifting and carrying objects (i.e. less than 25lbs)
Working Conditions: HDNBC is located in Plano and Garland, Primary Office Location: Plano. Currently, services are provided in-person or virtually (via phone, zoom, and other tele-health platforms)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
