A Typical Day
A typical day in the life of a Central Carolina HVAC Lead Installation Technician includes:
- Leading and performing residential HVAC equipment and ductwork installations, including start up and charging of new systems, in a safe and efficient manner
- Installing and performing the start-up of ductless minisplit systems (preferred)
- Installing and performing the start-up of oil furnace systems (preferred)
- Capable of completing a basic changeout without supervision
- Performing all low and high voltage electrical work needed to complete HVAC installations
- Measuring and drawing required ductwork and transitions
- Designing duct systems (preferred)
- Replacing HVAC components including TXVs, evaporator and condenser coils, and compressors
- Brazing in equipment
- Running gas piping and hooking up furnace venting
- Professionally communicating with team members, customers, and vendors
- Completing paperwork for each installation including service software documentation
Job Requirements:
To be successful as a Central Carolina HVAC Lead Installation Technician you must
- Have a current driver’s license in good standing
- Be able to serve customers with a positive attitude and enthusiasm
- Communicate well and be able to work in a team environment
- Pride yourself on being professional and drug free
- Able to serve customers throughout the Triad (In and surrounding Greensboro, High Point, and Winston-Salem areas.)
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Physical demands: While performing the position responsibilities for this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, crawl, use and reach with hands and arms, balance, talk, and hear. The employee must possess finger dexterity, including the ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 35 pounds. The employee must be able to safely climb ladders while carrying up to 30 pounds and perform position responsibilities from a minimum 8’ ladder. This position requires the employee to stand up to 95% of the shift. Vision abilities include close, distant, and color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Work conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. This includes heat/cold and humidity. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal. General sign-off: The employee must adhere to all company policies
Skills and Experience:
A Central Carolina HVAC Lead Installation Technician will have
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- At least 4 years of residential installation field experience
- A CFC Certification Type 2 or greater (or ability to obtain)
- Mechanical aptitude
- Familiarity with local construction codes
- Basic to intermediate computer skills
- Ability to manage and organize jobs in the time available
