Location: Must be able to work in the immediate Canonsburg or Freeport areas. Regular visits to our fabrication shop in Cowansville, PA. The majority of our work is currently in Western PA and WV.
Job Summary: The Mechanical Construction Project Manager plays a pivotal role in the construction industry, responsible for estimating costs, managing projects, fabrication drawings, and ensuring the successful execution of mechanical projects. This multifaceted role involves a combination of technical expertise, project management and communication skills, and financial acumen to deliver projects on time and within budget. The PM will work with electrical, fabrication, and civil crews to maximize efficiency. The PM must have experience with estimating and managing projects of all sizes in both commercial and Oil and Gas industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation:
- Develop accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Analyze project specifications, blueprints, and technical drawings to assess project requirements.
Budget Management:
- Create and maintain project budgets, monitoring expenses throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and propose value engineering solutions without compromising project quality.
- Track and report project financial performance against established budgets.
Project Planning:
- Collaborate with engineering teams to develop detailed project plans and timelines.
- Ensure that project goals, milestones, and deliverables are clearly defined and communicated to all stakeholders.
- Identify potential risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.
Procurement and Vendor Management:
- Source and negotiate contracts with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Oversee the procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
- Maintain relationships with key vendors and suppliers.
Quality Control:
- Implement quality control processes to ensure that all work adheres to industry standards and project specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections and quality audits to monitor project progress and compliance.
Project Execution:
- Manage day-to-day project activities, including scheduling, resource allocation, and coordination of subcontractors and team members.
- Resolve project-related issues and conflicts as they arise.
- Ensure that projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and project reports.
- Generate progress reports for clients and senior management, providing updates on project status and financial performance.
- Track weekly man-hours and turn in for payroll and billing.
- Maintain confidentiality of means, methods and financials.
Client Communication:
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing their concerns and providing regular project updates.
- Foster positive client relationships and seek opportunities for additional projects or referrals.
Safety Compliance:
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and standards on project sites to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices to enhance project efficiency and quality.
- Seek opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience (at least 3 years) in mechanical estimating and project management, preferably in the construction industry.
- Experience in Oil & Gas, and/or heavy industrial, piping, and mechanical services is required.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of industry regulations, codes, and standards.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
- Degree in engineering preferred.
- PMP Certification preferred.
