Summary: Under the supervision of the Content and Homeroom Associate Teachers, the Senior Teaching Assistant is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring educational programming in assigned curriculum areas for assigned students.
Responsibilities
- Engage in collaborative instruction planning and modification of curriculum as needed in consult with supervisor
- Implement differentiated instruction across assigned class periods
- Provide accommodations and modifications as appropriate for students and as designed by supervisor
- Implement Individualized Education Plan (IEP) programming
- Provide ongoing formative and summative assessment of performance to inform instruction
- Apply evidence-based principles of learning to planning and implementation of instructional content (e.g., differential reinforcement, learning hierarchy, learn units, error correction procedures, prompting, prompt fading)
- Support homeroom activities including but not limited to: Arrival, dismissal, lunch, and social skills
- Implement all student Behavior Intervention Plans
- Engage in IEP activities (e.g., participate in development, monitoring, and reporting of IEP programming; attend IEP pre-planning meetings and annual reviews)
- Engage in collaborative problem solving on an interdisciplinary team and receive feedback while maintaining a high level of professionalism
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education, special education, psychology, or related field
- Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
- Ability to coordinate and participate in a team setting
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
- Computer skills related to common office tasks such as email, conducting internet searches, and using MSOffice (e.g., MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to perform several tasks simultaneously
- Flexibility with regard to daily routine and responsibilities
- Support of program philosophy
- Experience with educational programming, special education preferred
- Interest in pursuing teaching certification in special education preferred
- Experience working with adolescents or children with disabilities, including individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder preferred
