Job Summary:
The Membership Engagement and Events Coordinator is a well-organized, detail-oriented, and highly efficient person who can manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously. S/he is kind, friendly, and a collaborative team-player and enjoys engaging with people. The Membership Engagement and Events Coordinator is charged with coordinate lifecycle events and rentals within Temple Israel, and getting to know our members and helping them connect with each other and with the congregation in ways that speak to each individual’s particular passions and interests. S/he will also provide administrative and logistical support for congregational programs, as well as front-office support as needed.
Duties (Most important areas of work):
· Meet with customers/families to discuss needs and guidelines for their rental/lifecycle event.
· Ensure coordination between facilities staff, vendors, and administrative staff leading up to and including the day of the event.
· Coordinate billing with accounting department.
· Promote Temple Israel as a rentable venue location.
· Coordinate with Caterers for funerals held at Temple Israel.
· Meet with congregants to get to know their interests, talents, and ways in which they would like to engage in the Temple Israel community, maintain database to track this information.
· Help congregants with similar interests connect with each other in order to form relationships, to attend Temple Israel events together, and/or to work together on programs.
· Identify and recommend congregants who, based on their interests and skills, can serve on committees and task forces.
· Serve as the staff liaison to the Membership Committee: attend all Membership Committee meetings, support the chair in his/her leadership of the committee, and keep senior staff updated on the committee’s activities and needs.
· Develop initiatives to recruit new members to Temple Israel, and partner with lay leaders, volunteers, and professional staff to implement these initiatives.
· Recruit volunteers to partner with our professional team in creating and implementing programs for the congregation.
· Provide administrative and logistical support to senior staff and lay leaders in organizing and executing programs – including, but not limited to, calendaring, booking venues, procuring needed supplies, coordinating room set-ups, and tracking RSVPs.
· Assist in general front-office administrative support as needed.
· Other duties as assigned.
· Work collaboratively as part of Temple Israel’s professional team to create a holy Jewish community, to help our congregants discover Jewish meaning and purpose, and to create a collegial and friendly work environment.
· Participate in the Temple Israel’s committees and programs as appropriate.
· Take an active role in the life of the synagogue.
Qualifications:
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and social media tools.
· Comfort working with people of all ages and demographics.
· Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule as needed, including nights and weekends.
