Zen Educate is looking for educators who are passionate about teaching and positively contributing to the lives of children in special education. We are seeking SPED Aides to join us supporting students with disabilities who are between the ages of 18 and 22, and who are not yet ready for graduation. In this role you will be offering functional and vocational curriculum support with instructional focus on the acquisition of skills necessary for independence within the community.
Key Duties:
- Assisting licensed staff in the classroom
- Aid students in meeting their individualized education plan (IEP)
- Maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning
- Work with individuals and/or small groups when activities and assignments are presented
- Provide support for students in crisis
- Support students on outings into the community
- Utilize a variety of learning methods to enhance the student's learning experiences and support them as needed
- Celebrate the students you’re working with
Minimum Requirements:
- 60 credits, Associates Degree, or obtained a passing score on an appropriate ADE assessment
- Clean driving record
- Experience working with children
- Crisis prevention (CPI) training
- CPR certification
Preferred Requirements:
- Previous experience working in special education
- Behavioral Technician or PCA experience
