The Special Education Lead Teacher thrives in a diverse classroom setting with children ages 3 - 4 years old with special needs. The Lead Teacher is creative, flexible, and passionate about making a positive difference in the educational experience of each child.
Required Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Able to differentiate and individualize the curriculum to meet the needs of students in line with their Individual Educational Plan (IEP);
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) desired but mandatory.
Job Summary:
The Special Education Lead Teacher is responsible for the delivery of IEP driven developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities that meet the emotional, physical, intellectual and social needs of the children assigned. The Teacher also develops and implements a structured plan to update families on their child's progress, communicate important class/school events, and engage them in class/school activities.
Education:
- Valid NYS Certification, Children with Disabilities (B-2) OR in process (obtaining certification)
- Master’s Degree
