Job Description:
A General Maintenance Worker is responsible for ensuring the overall upkeep and functionality of the facilities. This role involves performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks to address issues within the apartments, common areas, and external spaces. The primary goal is to create a safe, clean, and comfortable living environment for residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Routine Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on various systems, including plumbing, electrical, and appliances, to identify and address potential issues before they become major problems.
- Repair Work: Respond promptly to maintenance requests from residents or property management. Diagnose and repair issues such as leaks, electrical malfunctions, faulty appliances, and other structural or mechanical problems.
- Carpentry and Painting: Perform carpentry tasks such as repairing or replacing doors, windows, cabinets, and moldings. Carry out painting duties to maintain the aesthetic appeal of both interior and exterior surfaces.
- Appliance Maintenance: Inspect, repair, and maintain various household appliances, such as stoves, refrigerators, washers, and dryers, to ensure they operate efficiently.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while performing maintenance tasks. Identify and address potential safety hazards in a timely manner.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment inspections. Provide regular updates to property management on completed tasks and ongoing projects.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with residents, property management, and external contractors. Keep residents informed about scheduled maintenance and provide guidance on maintaining their living spaces.
- Emergency Response: Be available for on-call duties in case of maintenance emergencies, such as plumbing leaks or power outages, and respond promptly to resolve issues.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in general maintenance or a related field.
- Knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools safely.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform tasks that may require lifting and manual labor.
