Shift Information:

Available for 24 hour on-call

Primary shift will be: 4:00pm to 12:30am during the months of November through March

Secondary shift will be: Monday - Friday, Structured flex start/end time options available, during the months of April through October
- Shifts may be altered for weather & emergency responses

Available to work occasional weekends and nights throughout the Spring, Summer, and Fall months for emergency response.

Purpose:
Perform manual labor tasks associated with roadway maintenance including, the treating of roadways for snow/ice control, patching, clearing, maintenance, and installation of catch basins, installation of street and traffic signs, cutting and maintenance of brush, and installing stormwater pipe, and other public works projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform routine or general maintenance and repair to the municipal complex facilities, community park, and park structures as assigned.

Ability to operate a 40,000 lb. GVW Dump Truck with automatic transmission and air brakes.

Ability to perform Winter snow/ice removal and salting safely and efficiently.
-
Knowledge of proper operation and maintenance procedures of commercial vehicles, plows, hydraulics, and equipment used in the field of public works.

Ability to operate loader/backhoe safely and efficiently.
-
Ability to operate various types of road machinery, small equipment, and tools owned by the Township safely and efficiently.

Knowledge of mechanical repairs to trucks, equipment, small machinery, and tools.
- Ability to perform routine maintenance and repairs on assigned equipment, small equipment, and tools used in daily operations.
- Maintain Township roadways, storm sewers, and detention ponds for compliance as assigned.

Perform roadway restoration after annual Township paving projects.

Ability to lift 60 lbs., 4' in height; and carry 60 lbs.

A willingness to perform other special public works projects as assigned.
Competencies, Skills & Abilities:

Accurately record detailed information and calculate with accuracy.

Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Products-Word, Excel, and Outlook programs.

Operate office equipment used in daily operations including a tablet, personal computer, copier, fax.

Maintain composure, be courteous, and foster cooperative communications with the public, other staff members, and elected officials.

To work independently, organize, prioritize workload, meet deadlines timely and efficiently, and involve the Director in matters requiring further management discretion.

Adapt to changing work situations and assignments.
Additional Requirements:

Able to report to work, at the Township Municipal Building, within 1 hour of an emergency call-out.

Education & License Requirements:
-
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
-
Possess a valid Pennsylvania Department of Motor Vehicles Class B or higher Commercial Driver's License with no air brake restrictions.

Previous experience with snow removal and winter maintenance desired.

The noise level in the work environment ranges from low to loud and requires the use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
