Butter Beans is a food service company that provides nutritional and tasty meals to independent and charter schools throughout the New York area. We seek team players at the Associate Floater level with shared goals of promoting healthy eating habits to students in the role of Food Service Professional. The schedule varies depending on the school/summer camp (20 to 30 hours per week) and follows a school calendar schedule. We are looking to fill positions located in different areas of New York City (multiple locations in different boroughs). It is a seasonal position with a school calendar schedule.

Monday - Friday only:
Start time between 8:00 am - 9:00am; Shift ends between 1:00 pm - 2:00pm
The primary roles and responsibilities include: assisting in properly heating up prepared food, assisting in setting up sandwich and salad bars, professionally and courteously serving meals as a team to school children and staff, ensuring all equipment, service dishes, etc. are cleaned each day.We are looking for candidates with basic food prep and knife skills (cutting fruits & vegetables,) basic food re-heating and cooling down procedural knowledge, who understand the basic DOH FIFO principles of food handling ,and have an understanding safe food handling.
The ideal candidate is someone who has a strong background in food services and is comfortable in a customer service environment, especially within a school setting. Ideal candidates possess a strong work ethic and are dependable and punctual, a problem solver, a good team member and resourceful in solving day-to-day challenges in a dynamic environment.

* Food Handlers Card from the New York Department of Health with strong understanding of food safety procedures is required
* Previous food service experience
* Ability to demonstrate a history of dependability with limited call-outs and starting established shifts on-time.
* Can demonstrate previous job continuity
* Ability to follow systems and processes that are put in place to achieve efficient operations. Completes work in a timely manner.
* Comfortable in a customer focused environment including an engaged and professional interaction with students, teachers and other staff members.

Physical Effort: Work involves light to moderate physical effort such as lifting or moving objects, continuous standing, bending and walking. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
