JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Generalist 2
Department: Operations
Reports To: Manufacturing Lead or Designee
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Hourly
Summary
Generalist 2 will work in support of all manufacturing areas as a “floater” between various job functions. Assignments may change multiple times daily, as determined by the Production Lead.
Candidates must adhere to the organization’s AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and shall complete assigned duties in accordance with published work instructions, procedures, and specifications, ensuring the production of quality products.
As a member of the Production team, the Generalist 2 will be required to set up and operate automated and semi-automated machinery, as well as perform manual assembly operations.
Generalist 2 will actively participate with fellow Production team members and supervisors throughout day-to-day operations to resolve any quality or production-related issues.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform various capacitor manufacturing processes, including, but not limited to;
- Set-up and operate computer-controlled, semi-automatic, and manually operated capacitor winding machines and equipment
- Adjustment and control setting of machinery and test equipment to accurately and efficiently complete assigned duties according to written specifications
- Monitoring of process performance by completing regular quality checks, including dimensional tolerancing, visual inspection, and electrical testing
- Electrical testing of capacitor products at various stages throughout the production process. Including,
- High Potential (Hi-Pot) insulator testing
- Clearing voltage testing
- Capacitance, Inductance, and Resistance testing
- Capacitor peeling, wrapping, epoxy filling, cleaning, and marking processes
- Completion of hot press, bando, liquid pearling, end spraying, and impregnation processes
- Performance of water leak testing of assembled products
- Soldering of cases and electrical components
Additional requirements of the Generalist 2 include:
- Ability to identify, prevent, and troubleshoot problems
- Following established safety practices
- Maintaining a clean and safe work area in accordance with (6s) practices
Supervisory Responsibilities: There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this role.

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or up to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3 years of Soldering Experience Assemble and solder electronic components according to specifications and quality standards.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees in the organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding and to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
Ability to use problem solving skills to deal with problems that arise in daily production operations.
Computer Skills:
Basic computer skills are preferred, but not required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
IPC-A-610: Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies certification – Preferred but not required
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to learn the organization’s historical product line (Elpac) workmanship procedures, work instructions, and record keeping processes.
