EYE-Q Vision Care is seeking a Laser RN join our Ambulatory Surgery Center team, with the opportunity to crossover as an Aesthetic RN in our MedSpa. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees safe laser use wherever lasers are utilized in the facility.
- Acts as a liaison between the clinical laser users and the LSO regarding concerns or questions related to clinical practice.
- Troubleshoots equipment problems.
- Monitors compliance with the facility’s laser policies and procedures.
- Reviews laser-related documentation such as in the manufacturer’s directions, electronic medical record or laser logs and makes any recommendations for improvement to the staff and surgery center nurse manager.
- Assists the LSO and Nurse Manager with auditing, assessing continuing education and training needs, monitoring licensure and certification of staff working in the laser areas.
- Oversees patient care activities in the laser room and ensures time outs are completed and proper cleaning and disinfection activities occur between each patient.
- Provides patient care for RN specific procedures in the laser treatment areas such as stating an IV or administering IV meds, performing patient assessments and providing patient education.
- Manages medication inventory in the laser treatment areas; review of all medications in unit monthly for outdates. Re-orders medications as necessary.
- Guides patient flow and care at time of entry to the holding room or laser treatment room until discharge.
- Performs pre-op calls to patients.
- Reviews health history, including medications, any allergies, and review specific instructions for what patient need to do prior to surgery.
- Explains procedures/treatment/discharge to patient and/or family members.
- Follows up with patient phone calls prior to procedure when necessary.
- Ensures that post-discharge calls are made to patients who have received laser treatments in the surgery center.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Working knowledge of health care laws, regulations, and nursing care methods and procedures.
- Excellent bedside manner and communication skills
- Advanced knowledge of EMR’s
- Laser safety and practice procedures.
- Advanced knowledge of Administrative, Engineering and Procedural Controls for Laser Surgery as defined by National standards and Regulations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure in California with the board of Registered Nursing.
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience.
- Previous ophthalmic laser/plastics surgery experience (preferred).
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification
Preference will be given to applicants with experience in an optical setting. Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not required. This is a full time position with a comprehensive benefits package. Hourly rate will be determined based on experience and training of the candidate.
