Salary: $40+ (per class rate)
SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE
An ActiveVT Personal Trainer helps fulfill our Mission of helping Vermonters live longer, happier lives better prepared to encounter any adversity or adventure. A personal trainer does that through exceptional fitness coaching, and is thus considered a coach as part of the coaching staff team. We help our members get results, build confidence, and be better prepared to live a longer, more vigorous life.
ActiveVT Coaches are part of a small team dedicated to professionalism and excellence to manage and deliver their assigned coaching responsibilities; actively engage and coach our adult and masters (senior) clients.
Duties/Responsibilities:

Follow ActiveVT Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to provide 5-star, professional coaching and fulfill our mission.

Personal training sessions are 1 hour and are usually 1-on-1, with the exception of occasional semi-private sessions of 2-3 athletes.

Prepare the gym for a training session, open the building and adjust lights/music/heat as needed, be ready to greet the member 15 minutes before session, ensure the workout is broadcasted, assemble equipment, conduct the session, record attendance, and complete any additional reporting duties as necessary (member injuries, equipment breakage, etc).

Keep members engaged through good rapport, positive and attentive coaching, high energy, and quality feedback.

Maintain expert knowledge of the daily workout and overall program.

Apply the program for the athlete/client and adapt the movements and implements as needed to best meet individuals’ needs, goals, and keep everyone safe and injury-free.

Be familiar with common weaknesses and how they differ between between general population and masters athletes.

Use effective communication and cues, strong leadership and interrelationship skills.

Manage time appropriately during sessions and minimize downtime to keep athletes engaged, getting the most out of their session and the coaching.

Foster an environment that celebrates wins and builds confidence.

Build and maintain rapport with members while always maintaining professional boundaries.

Provide exceptional customer service and interact professionally with members.

Manage, motivate, and measure members to help them continuously make progress toward their personal goals as athletes.

Be willing to cover sessions for other coaches as schedule permits.

Capacity and willingness to enroll in a specialty certification program, if needed.
Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Fitness training certification is required... (CFL1+, NASM, ISSA, ACE, NCSF, etc)

Coaching experience and/or customer service experience is preferred.

Experience as a competitive athlete is preferred.

Successful completion of ActiveVT Internship Program unless otherwise determined.
Reporting Relationships:
Reports to and has accountabilities with an assigned Supervisor and also collaborates with/reports to the Owner whenever needed, and has the responsibility to interact with co-workers, parents of athletes, minors, and external parties frequently.
Physical Requirements:

The ability to sit, stand, turn, bend, kneel, and reach for several hours a day and lift up to 60 lbs.

A Coach will need to be able to perform the movements of weightlifting and/or strength training and spot athletes/clients’ max weights to keep them safe.
