The Assistant Activities Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Programming to develop and implement a variety of activities and events to create a stimulating and fun environment for our seniors.

General Tasks:
- Works in cooperation as part of Activities Department Team to create and implement a dynamic program of activities to meet the varying needs of residents, including but not limited to social, educational, physical, cultural and art programs activities that occur during the day, evenings and on weekends. Special emphasis should be placed on programming that speaks to the heritage and background of residents.
- Work collaboratively with other staff.
- Provide excellent customer service to residents and their families.
- Attend weekly Department meeting.
Assisted Living Responsibilities
- Supports Dir. Of Programming in scheduling and planning aspects of Assisted Living calendar of events including booking performers, lectures, consultants, etc., purchasing tickets/reservations, flyers, special event planning, creating kitchen request lists, set-up orders, distribution of calendars; Administrative assistance is a major part of this job.
- Researching AL Outings; handicap accessible, purchase tickets in advance when needed.
- Assist with planning and execution of seasonal decorations, art shows, and other displays.
- Plan and execute various activities and ensure that they meet resident expectations.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Terrace Memory Care Responsibilities
- Daily and Monthly Tasks as assigned including updating daily activities boards, remove old sign-in and out sheets from book, refill sign-in sheets as needed, watering plants, seasonal decorations, etc.
- Maintain resident information such as the birthday list, mailing labels, and the emergency info book.
- Plan and execute various therapeutic activities for resident with Dementia: morning exercise routines, word games, art projects, music programs or movie showings.
- Ensure that consultant-run activities take place as planned: room set up, invite and escort residents, supervise consultants, maintain resident safety.
- Occasionally available to help at meals. Ensure that residents are eating, and observe the kinds of meals are appropriate or inappropriate.
- Communicate with nursing staff, Terrace Coordinator, and Therapeutic Programming Manager about resident care and concerns.
- Communicate with the residents. Be observant, caring, compassionate, patient and helpful.
- Organize and escort small group outings within RGP to AL activities, café visits, and patio for fresh air/exercise, with nursing assistance as needed.
- Maintain resident confidentiality at all times.
- Utilize techniques to decrease anxiety and agitation often associated with memory loss/dementia.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Must be proficient with Word, Excel, and Publisher.
- Experience with geriatric and memory care/dementia population (1 year required).
- Be flexible to work evenings, weekends and holidays when needed.
- Ability to perform moderate physical activities.
