Job Title: Controls Engineer (Junior and Senior Levels)
Location: Richmond, VA
Salary Range: Starts at $75,000/Annual
Type of Engagement: Contract-to-hire (Subject to Performance and Business Needs)

Develop and troubleshoot engineering designs for a variety of client products.

Manage standard, custom, and legacy products, as well as support sales efforts.

Oversee both hardware and software design for machine and control systems.

Ensure drawings adhere to the latest electrical code for accuracy and compliance.

Support Electrical Assemblers during system assembly and preflight checks.

Offer field service support and installation, potentially requiring travel to customer sites.

Design control systems from inception to completion, meeting client and internal standards.

Create machine designs with comprehensive power, control systems, and electrical diagrams in line with project requirements.

Collaborate with Control Specialists to ensure accurate drawings following electrical code standards.

Generate detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs) for machine/system designs.

Develop machine/system programs and operator interface programs adhering to client standards.

Document PLC and HMI programs for each machine, ensuring compliance with company standards.

Compile spare parts lists for client systems.

Support Controls Engineering and Product Managers in designing Electrical Systems tailored to customer specifications.

Fulfill other assigned duties as directed by management.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred. Alternatively, an Associate's degree with 3-5 years of relevant experience will be considered.

For Junior Level: 3+ years of experience; For Senior Level: 5+ years of experience in controls/electrical engineering.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Project.

Team player with a positive demeanor.

Familiarity with industrial communications protocols (Ethernet/IP, DeviceNET, Profibus, etc.).

Proficiency in software applications such as Studio 5000, RSLogix, RsLinx, Factory Talk View Studio, and AutoCAD.

Experience with Allen Bradley Operator Interface and PLC hardware/software.

Understanding of mechanical machine design and electrical codes/regulations (NFPA 70, NFPA 79, UL 508a).

Willingness to travel up to 25-30%.
