What will you be doing?
The Senior Director Program Management, Enabling Technologies will direct, create, and maintain the overall master plan across the programs, manage governance processes, provide tracking and reporting of platform initiatives including value capture, as well as provide coaching and support to key initiative leaders. This role will partner closely with both internal cross-functional peers (R&D, PMO, Marketing, Quality and Regulatory Affairs) as well as develop and lead external partnerships as required. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of delivering innovative new technologies to the global marketplace.
The Senior Director Program Management, Enabling Technologies will have a broad understanding of medical device business as well as experience with key geographical regions, in addition to a deep understanding of program management principles and practices. The role will work closely with R&D and Commercial partners to develop an overall program pipeline strategy that aligns with key product group strategies and priorities. The Senior Director Program Management, Enabling Technologies reports to the VP NPD PMO. This position will be based in the Pittsburgh, PA office and will require program-related travel to other Smith + Nephew development locations.
B.S degree in Engineering or equivalent in related discipline, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or integrated engineering systems preferred.
PMP, Agile/ScrumMaster certification preferred.
A minimum 10 years’ engineering and product development and/or project management experience involving large multi-disciplinary teams in a medical devices environment, including experience developing software and complex electromechanical systems.
Program Management experience with a demonstrated ability to create, shape, align the organization to a future vision of large-scale product platforms.
Excellent negotiation, facilitation, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Innovative, self-motivated, high energy and results driven.
Executive presentation skills, a collaborative approach, the ability to connect, and the ability to manage complexity and ambiguity including the ability to zoom-in/zoom-out for strategic and tactical, high-level, and detailed discussions.
The ability to develop high performing teams and lead in a matrixed environment.
A minimum of 5 years of people management experience.
Demonstrated ability to build interdependent internal and external partnerships, acting as the mediator between organizations while optimizing the value proposition and global customer focus.
Up to approximately 10% domestic and international travel.
