This position starts at $18.00 per hour. Formal certification is a plus, but not required.
LIGHT-DUTY MECHANIC
The core function of this position will be to maintain the basic functionality and appearance of our fleet of FedEx delivery vehicles with light-duty mechanic work, general automobile maintenance and truck cleaning. The ideal candidate will have basic auto mechanic skills and be responsible for troubleshooting and fixing issues with the aim of maximizing reliability and functionality of vehicles, as well as meeting FedEx brand appearance standards. The position requires good communication skills and the ability to provide mechanical advice to the rest of the fleet services team, local supervisors and drivers.
CLEAN-UP DELIVERY DRIVER
The dual-role aspect of this position comes into play after our route drivers dispatch and begin their delivery day. The clean-up delivery driver will organize, scan and then deliver overflow and large packages as needed – either based on fleet capacity restrictions or overall terminal volume. The ideal candidate will be able to deal effectively with customers and maintain a positive FedEx image while making deliveries, pickups and managing area priorities effectively.
THE OVERALL MIX OF THE TWO POSITION FUNCTIONS WILL BE FLUID and shift regularly based on company needs, with morning priority weighted toward fleet maintenance.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately
- Inspect vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain and upgrade
- Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts etc.) to improve vehicle functionality and longevity
- Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues (e.g., leaks)
- Keep fleet services management updated on all work and issues
- Maintain equipment and tools in good condition and keep organized
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic components of vehicles
- Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods
- Ability to handle various tools (e.g., pliers) and equipment (e.g., jacks/lifts)
- Truck washing, cleaning and cosmetic repairs as necessary
- Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protection against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc.
- Formal certification (e.g., ASE) is a plus, but not required
- Follow through and deliver all packages safely and accurately
- Complete all pick-ups assigned to route within the scheduled time frame
- Deliver and scan every package according to proper procedure
- Meet and greet customers in a positive manner
- Safely operate box trucks and step vans (No CDL Required)
- Communicate promptly and effectively with management on time-critical issues
- Important: speak, read and write English fluently (must meet DOT requirements for communication with law enforcement)

- Route management/package delivery experience is a plus but not necessary – training is provided
Schedule:
- Five or six days per week
- Primarily day shift, position requires some flexibility for evening work
- Must be available to work overtime as needed
- Scheduling can be flexible but Sunday availability is a must (most access to all vehicles)
Requirements:
- 21 Years Old
- CDL NOT REQUIRED
- Hold a current Medical Examiner's Certificate or pass DOT physical exam
- Pass pre-employment drug screening
- Pass criminal background check – no felony convictions
- Pass Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check – one or less MVR violations in last 3 years
- High School or GED Diploma
- Cellphone with text and data capabilities
- Basic computer and data entry skills
- Basic mathematical skills
- Basic map reading abilities
- Ability to meet FedEx driver qualifications
- Physical ability to regularly lift 50lb packages and maneuver up to 150lbs
