POSITION OVERVEW & PURPOSE:
The Quality Inspector ensures that the daily, incoming, in–process and final products meet or exceed the customer requirements/specifications as specified by SDI standards. Identifies and segregates non-conforming material. The Quality Inspector is an entry-level position that works under the direct supervision of the Quality Control Supervisor.
Essential Functions:
- Perform measurement and visual inspection of in-coming purchased goods, in-process material, final product, and product packaged for delivery.
- Confirms that product quality meets customer expectations and company & industry standards.
- Gives approval of product, based on measurements and visual inspection.
- Identifies and controls non-conforming products; notifies team lead and/or supervisor when non-conforming equipment, raw material, component, sub-assembly, or final product is identified.
- Communicates with associates and leaders in assigned areas concerning all matters related to product and process quality.
- Accurately completes, records, and maintains all inspection and quality assurance records using provided methods and technology.
- Uphold all safety standards applicable to the responsibilities above.
- Always maintain an organized work environment, may require inspection by the Leadership Team.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Leadership Team to support company goals.
- Participation in Mesker Safety Program.
- Based on proficiency may be required to train in Quality workstations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Operate hand or power tools to apply paint to door/frame parts.
- Handle materials such as metal, poly, glue, etc.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds repetitively.
- Must be able to push and/or pull carts up to 75 pounds.
- Must use and be able to work with required PPE.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to perform repetitive tasks such as twisting, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
- The noise level of the warehouse is moderate to loud.
- Based on proficiency could work under heavy to limited supervision.
- Uphold all safety standards applicable to the responsibilities above.
- Must be able to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
- Depending on experience could be required to shadow one or more workstations above.
- Routine assessments of workstation proficiency are conducted – individual must pass one or more workstations as listed above.
- Must be able to understand and follow both verbal and written instructions and standard work tickets.
- Must possess basic computer skills, basic math skills required, proven measurement and mathematical fraction/decimal conversion skills.
- Must be able to work independently as well as in a group environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Must demonstrate basic problem-solving skills.
- Good organizational skills related to managing paperwork and time.
