Description:
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the middle/high school nurse will oversee all medical illness or injuries in the school(s). The primary responsibilities for this position include overseeing student's medication protocol, and maintain the student medical records in accordance with CAK policy.
As an exempt, hourly employee this role will require additional time on campus to ensure student readiness, activities and/or hand-offs to families for medicines or medical student needs. The position has set hours during the school year with as needed remote hours during the summer break. There may be specific times, days, and/or events that could require the nurse to support on-campus students that could interfere with previously planned off- times. Work hour flexibility during school days will be important for this role. The specific days and times will be agreed to, with the CFO, at the beginning of each year, depending on that year’s unique characteristics.
Requirements:
- Oversee and manage the middle/high school clinic(s) for all health related illness and injuries

Coordinate and manage chronic illnesses in student body

Manage and catalog all over the counter (OTC) and prescription medications

Plan and coordinate medications for overnight trips

Work with the enrollment team to make sure all required medical documents are received and up to date for all incoming students.

Annual staff training on life threatening allergies, asthma, seizures, diabetes, etc.

Compile lists for building regarding allergies and medical conditions

Print and catalog emergency medical information for each student

Catalog and order medical supplies

Familiar with TennIIS and be an authorized user

Use CAK’s student information system for communications and data entry in the clinic

Catalog all incident report forms

Develop policies regarding healthcare on campus (i.e., potty training, illness standards)

Coordinate with other medial team members, providers and school nurses from local private and public schools as well as the Knox County Health Services as needed to support CAK’s health and safety requirements
Qualifications

Possess and maintain, in good standing, a nursing license in the state of TN

Pediatric nursing knowledge appreciated but not required

Familiar with Google Suite, Microsoft Office tools and other computer systems used by CAK

Able and willingness to learn and use CAK specific reporting and data tools including Blackbaud, August schools and other platforms.

CPR/AED certification is current

Ability to Provide annual training for new and returning employees as needed

Excellent communication skills

Minimum of 3 years’ experience, 10 years’ experience desired

10 month, on campus position (37.5 hours per week) with remote 10-hour/average every 2 weeks during summer months

Based on student needs, may be asked to attend school field trips, including overnight
