Essential Function
Provide a safe, fun, and caring environment for children enrolled in the Corps ministry programs offered to the community. Counselors are responsible for leading groups of children in assigned activities, implementing discipline procedures, and closely adhering to the Youth Ministries Coordinator’s instructions.
Duties and Responsibilities

Specifically, the primary duties are:
· Weekly participation in Corps Worship Service (Holiness Meeting).
· Coordinate and implement the evangelism, discipleship, & leadership development of the young people involved in corps programs, including opportunities for new ministry initiatives.
· Provide leadership and support for Sunday School classes and other youth programming by leading children in Bible lessons, devotions, field trips, and other program activities.
· Maintain the organization and cleanliness of program areas.
· Enforce rules and model behavior for maintaining an environment conducive to fun, safety, and respect for all participants.
· Initiate and maintain positive relationships with all staff, guests, children, and parents/guardians.
· Communicate daily with the Youth Ministries Coordinator/Corps Officer regarding concerns/issues with the program, children, parents, or co-workers.
· Transport participants to and from programs using a 12-passenger van.
· Attend all required Music and Arts Ministries Coordinator meetings conducted by Territorial and Divisional Youth Departments.
· Other duties within the scope of the role, as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
· High School diploma or GED equivalency required.
· One year of experience working with children is preferred.
· Ability to work with a team and without supervision.
· Intermediate-level computer skills.
· Must have a valid Driver's License and be approved to drive for The Salvation Army.
· Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
· Must communicate clearly in English; Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
· Must understand and support the mission of The Salvation Army.
