Responsibilities:
• Reporting to the School Director, this role will support the school's mission by coordinating the special education process for School students including monitoring timelines, coordinating transfers, evaluation, and re-evaluation
• Train and coach staff in the preparation for and development of IEPs
• Provide leadership and direction for CDE licensed staff and coordinate the induction process for licensed staff
• Provide professional development and coaching to school staff on instructional strategies and the implementation of IEPs for students
• Provide leadership and subject matter expertise for staff to embrace the school's mission, vision, and core values
• Conduct classroom observations and provide coaching to staff on instructional strategies and implementation of IEPs
• Promote a learning environment in which all students thrive; where classroom instruction is tailored to students’ strengths and needs and preparing students for their next transition
• Lead data collection systems for individual and aggregate student data
• Attend and facilitate Individual Education Program (IEP) meetings when needed
• Monitor special education compliance including annual reviews, reevaluations, transfers, data collection, progress reporting, and post-school planning
• Serve as subject matter expert in the IEP document system, including training staff in use of the system
• Lead a comprehensive selection and implementation of curriculum resources in collaboration with staff
• Provide crisis intervention and support to students and staff when needed
• Seek input and maintain effective communication with staff and community partners
• Participate in the student intake process with the school leadership team; including observations and communication with districts and parents
• Assist with organizational processes and planning
• Assist with daily staffing attendance and classroom staffing needs
