Spring Hill School seeks inspired individuals who want to teach in an educational environment that values teachers’ expertise and creativity. Spring Hill School is a K-6 elementary school that focuses on the importance of relationships when it comes to helping children engage in their learning process and supporting them in being at the leading edge of their learning curve. Spring Hill values understanding each child and maintaining open communication with families. Importance is given to social and emotional growth to enable academic progress and to support a positive social experience among peers and the campus community.
This position is part of a co-teaching classroom with Kindergarten. The goal is to seamlessly support all of the students where they are developmentally and academically. Successful candidates will embrace a co-teaching classroom and find inspiration in collaborating on classroom management and activities.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not necessarily limited to:
- Provide multi-subject instruction in a combined grade class with a focus on differentiation and integrated projects.
- Collaborate with other teachers to enhance integrated project experiences that span multiple classrooms and subjects such as cultural studies, math, art, theater and design lab.
- Serve as a member of the teaching team, including attendance at weekly after school meetings (generally, there are one to two meetings per week).
- Develop and implement lesson plans drawing from multiple curriculum sources.
- Participate in school events throughout the year including during the school day, evenings and weekends as scheduled.
- Proactively communicate directly with parents and guardians regarding their child’s progress and collaborate on areas of growth.
- Differentiate lessons to meet each student where they are academically, while still providing a shared classroom experience and supporting peer relationships.
- Support the social and emotional growth of each student.
- Present materials for multiple types of learners.
- Create a positive, safe and mutually supportive learning environment.
- Share in yard supervision and other school activities outside of the classroom.
- Participate in scheduled teacher preparation and wrap-up days in addition to professional development days as indicated on the academic calendar.
- Seek and coordinate field trips to complement classroom activities.
- Incorporate parent/guardian volunteers into classroom activities.
- Represent Spring Hill at community events and participate in school promotion activities.
- Independently pursue professional growth opportunities as a dedicated lifelong learner.
Requirements
- Minimum education requirement of a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Education, or equivalent experience/transferable knowledge
- A combination of education and teaching experience that demonstrates multi-subject mastery
- Embrace and emulate principles of Design Thinking.
- Ability to thrive with a progressive approach to curriculum.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with students, co-workers and parents/guardians
- Strong interpersonal skills
- In possession of a wide variety of group and individual student management and scaffolding tools
- Enjoys teaching with a small classroom size
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $52,500.00 per year
