Summary:
Suffolk Cooperative Library System is a 56-member library system in Suffolk County, NY. We are seeking an experienced business professional to lead the Business Services Department as the Business Manager. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the operations and administrative supervision of the finance department and SCLS business operations. The Business Services Department provides a variety of support services to the libraries in Suffolk County, NY.
Duties:
- Responsible for the preparation and administration of the annual budget
- Supervises the finance department staff and general accounting controls over fiscal activities
- Works with auditors to ensure established financial controls are followed
- Manages Library Service contracts
- Works with outside contractors and vendors and assists with a variety of coordinated orders
- Prepares analyses of revenue and expenditures
- Participates in the preparation of grants, member library support chart and other reports
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree; 5 years of finance experience in business or government agency
- Thorough knowledge of methods and procedures used in preparing budgets
- Knowledge of basic software applications
- Good knowledge of computer software for accounting operations
- Ability to supervise and deal tactfully and courteously with others
- Good organizational abilities
- Ability to do complex mathematical calculations and to work with deadlines and interruptions and communicate instructions clearly and precisely
- Experience negotiating contracts and service agreements
- Ability to make sustainable work-related decisions
