Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
The Lead WordPress Developer is responsible for building our customers' sites. Implementing the website’s functionality and features using WordPress plugins, themes and custom code, with the responsibility for ensuring that the websites are responsive, optimized for speed, and compatible with different browsers and devices.

This role requires communication with customers and other external and internal stakeholders, because of this we have a strong preference for speaking English at an idiomatic level.
- This position is fully remote. We’re virtually integrated working Monday through Friday with flexible hours targeted between 8am and 5pm CST.
Responsibilities include:
- Configuring and optimizing WordPress to ensure maximum performance, and developing custom themes, plugins, and templates for WordPress.
- Writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code that follows established coding standards, best practices, is well-documented, and is scalable and maintainable.
- Testing and debugging code to ensure that it works as intended.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including UX and strategy, business analysts, project managers, designers and other developers, to gather requirements and deliver solutions that meet both the client project needs and the business needs.
- Collaborate with other developers, on WordPress websites and participating in code reviews, contributing to technical documentation, and working on cross-functional projects.
- Creates requirements that can be easily analyzed and abstracted by developers with less experience.
- Mentoring and coaching junior developers, providing guidance on software development best practices, code reviews, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure website security and performance, staying up to date with security risks associated with WordPress and being able to implement best practices to ensure website security.
- Optimize website performance by optimizing website speed, caching, and minimizing HTTP requests.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including other developers, project managers, and clients, including providing regular updates, setting expectations and clearly explaining technical concepts.
- Acts as the technical consultant for other developers and projects teams.
- Helps develop and update coding standards used on projects.
- Provides maintenance and support to existing code following standards and best code practices.

- Required Experience:
- 7+ years of relevant professional WordPress experience, building custom themes and plugins, and developing complex functionality.
- Proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Version Control System experience, preferably Git.
- Web Design and UX principles, ability to create responsive designs that look great on all devices and platforms.
- Web Performance Optimization, ability to optimize WordPress websites for fast loading times, caching, and minimizing HTTP requests.
- WordPress Security best practices, ability to secure WordPress websites by implementing security best practices such as using SSL, keeping WordPress updates, and using secure coding practices.
- Strong problem solving skills, with the ability to analyze and solve complex problems that may arise during development, troubleshooting issues and finding quick and efficient solutions.
Physical Requirements:
Able to work at a computer and monitor (sitting and standing) for extended periods of time.
