Polymer Plant Manager
General Responsibility
· Participate in the long-range planning of space, technology, staffing and equipment necessary to support the company’s growth.
· Plan and organize all production activities and the staffing, equipment and tooling resources required for those production activities.
· Oversee the scheduling, execution and control of day-to-day production, shipping, receiving and usage of supporting material, labor and equipment.
· Oversee the development and motivation of all production personnel.
· Oversee the maintenance and protection of production plant, facility and manufacturing equipment.
· Implement programs to improve manufacturing costs, quality, and delivery.
· Ensure compliance with local, state federal and company environmental, safety and labor laws.
Reporting Relationships
This position reports directly to the Business Unit Leader with additional advisors input. Reporting to it are all production, supervisors, the shipping/receiving supervisor, and Quality and Maintenance personnel.
Specific Duties
· Assist the Business Unit Leader to establish an Operations Strategy including product vs process focus, inventory bank policy, material flow routes, make vs buy, etc.
· Assist in developing long-range space, technology, labor skills and equipment plan.
· Assist in the design of new or modified facilities.
· Utilizing sales forecast and safety stock requirements, on a monthly basis, generate an intermediate range production plan, equipment load forecast and production manning forecast.
· Based on the production plan and equipment loading, analyze and propose additional equipment manpower and tooling needed to support the plan.
· Review and approve or revise the master production schedule based on order backlog, inventory availability and production efficiency considerations.
· Oversee the daily production scheduling and order dispatch activities.
· Oversee allocation of direct labor to various work centers to optimize production flow and cost based on latest customer order input, work overloads and daily absenteeism.
· Oversee revision of priorities to expedite selected orders, as requested. Authorize hourly overtime as deemed appropriate.
· Oversee production and hours reporting by his team members, pinpoint performance problem areas and work with the team to implement corrective action to raise efficiency.
· Oversee the disposition of higher cost, non-conforming materials. Working with Quality Engineer, to monitor scrap, issue scrap report and implement corrective action to reduce scrap.
· Analyze root cause for defects in production, shipping and receiving activities and take corrective action.
- Monitor timeliness and accuracy of daily shipping. Take necessary steps to to get the product and resources necessary for timely shipping.
- Oversee the timely and accurate receipt of raw materials, subcontracted parts and parts machined and/or plated outside.
- Direct most cost-effective, safe and accurate storage of raw materials, WIP, finished goods, tooling and equipment inventories.
- Work with Human Resource Department to develop operator-training programs. Assure that training records are kept.
- Oversee development of preventive maintenance programs and establish priorities for breakdown and project maintenance repair for both facilities and equipment.
- Maintain knowledge of OSHA and issue instructions to his subordinates regarding compliance, monitors plant activity to ensure compliance and handle all regulatory citations and complaints.
- Oversee housekeeping for all production areas and takes action to improve as necessary.
- Continually work with the team to reduce costs, improve quality, and reduce scrap through proposed process and methods changes.
- Ensure that all of his direct reports know and understand the scope of their responsibilities and the standards of performance associated with their positions. Monitor their performance, help them improve, discipline them as required and appraise their overall performance as dictated by company policy.

Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work experience as a Lead Operations/Production Supervisor.
· High school/GED diploma
· Experience using Polymers is a plus.
· 5+ years of experience with Industrial Manufacturing.
· Lean Manufacturing experience is a plus.
· Strong analytical, presentation, and negotiation skills
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization.
· Experience using Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
· Able to review material shortages, stock outages, and safety stock levels to meet customer requirements through exception management transactions (5+ years of experience)
· Results driven with the ability to work well independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
· Ability to multitask, handling multiple priorities simultaneously.
· On-Site work environment and minimal travel required.
· Ability to operate a forklift or willing to learn.
· Experience with extrusion equipment a plus.
· Ability to troubleshoot hydraulic equipment a plus.

Pay: $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
