The Tennessee Valley Health Care System’s (TVHS) Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service (P&LMS) has a need for experienced Medical Laboratory Technicians. Coverage of the laboratory is on a twenty-four-hour basis, seven days a week.
Responsibilities of the Medical Lab Technician will be to perform stat and routine testing in the laboratory at both the Nashville campus of the VA TVHS Healthcare System in the areas of specimen processing, hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, basic microbiology and blood bank. Medical Technologist will perform patient/unit blood compatibility testing and issue compatible blood and blood products if required.
Requirements of the Medical Technologist / Medical Lab Scientist: * Must have at least 1 years of experience in a medical lab setting
- Experience needed: specimen processing, hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, basic microbiology, and blood bank
- Associates degree in medical laboratory science, or in a related science
- Current ASCP/AMT certification
Benefits and Compensation: $24.00 to $28.00 /hour (depending on the shift)
