This is a remote work position, but candidate may choose to work at ICJIA’s downtown Chicago office during the agency’s regular business hours Monday thru Friday (8:30 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.) pending availability.
This is a full-time position. The selected candidate must work 37.5 hours per week. The selected candidate will start as soon as possible.
This position is TEMPORARY and does NOT include state benefits.

The audit and evaluation team at ICJIA is looking for candidates who have the desire and auditing skill capability to support the efforts of the team's accountability for the development and monitoring of grantmaking (and expenditure) support system in which grantees and ICJIA staff proactively maintain the integrity of public funds. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four year’s college with Bachelor's degree in accounting or other relevant discipline with coursework in auditing and accounting principles.
2. Requires five years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with government contracts, grantmaking, internal controls and indirect cost rates.
3. Requires knowledge of laws, rules and regulations related to both non-profit and governmental accounting and auditing procedures.
4. Requires working knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, GAGAS and other comprehensive basis of accounting (OCBOA).
5. Requires ability to determine violations and noncompliance with the law and to detect and explain significant irregularities.
6. Requires skill and ability to evaluate more difficult accounting problems and to analyze and interpret more complex accounting records.
7. Requires ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships and to deal tactfully with controversial problems.
8. Requires ability to prepare comprehensive accounting reports utilizing Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Adobe.

2. Experience working with Grants Accountability and Transparency Act; 30 ILCS 705 Grants Recovery Act, and 44 Illinois Admin code 7000 Governmental Contracts; Grantmaking, Procurement and Property Management, subtitle F: Grantmaking.
3. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
4. Strong written and oral communication skills.

Must be able to work independently.
2. Must have a valid driver's license and be able to travel to the ICJIA Chicago office and if necessary to grantee sites.
3. Must successfully pass a background check.

ABOUT THE AGENCY/BUREAU/PROGRAM
ICJIA responds to community needs with research and federal and state grants administration. ICJIA administers over 100 million dollars in grants, including the R3 (restore, reinvest, renew) grants (funded through the tax on legalized cannabis), state violence prevention grants, and federal grants including under the Violence Against Women Act and the Victims of Crime Act. ICJIA convenes groups and collaborates on efforts to reform the criminal justice system. ICJIA leads criminal justice reform efforts by supporting policy makers through research.
